The data of 2.15 million Japanese users of Toyota's cloud service platforms since 2012 were publicly available for ten years due to human error, says Toyota. A spokesperson for the company said a mistake made by a person caused a problem that lasted from November 2013 to mid-April, exposing data including the location of vehicles and IDs. Toyota has had no indication the data was misused but plans to implement a comprehensive cloud settings auditing system, establish monitoring procedures and provide employee training. An official from Japan's Personal Information Protection Commission confirmed being informed about the incident.
