Magic realism or really magical? Japanese researchers develop cyborg arms inspired by Nobel-winning authors short story

Researchers at the University of Tokyo have developed wearable robotic arms inspired by the concept of "jizai" which symbolises autonomy and free will in Japan. The cyborg arms are designed to enhance creativity and have potential applications in assisting people with disabilities and in search-and-rescue operations. The project aims to integrate the human body and machines, bridging the gap between the human and the robotic. The development of "jizaika technology" and the analysis of psycho-cognitive and neural mechanisms are also part of the project. Medical advancements in trauma injuries could also benefit from these developments.
