Non-profit organisation Garbo is ending its relationship with Match Group, which provided background checks for apps such as Tinder. Garbo had partnered with Match Group since 2019 but will cease its consumer-facing business at the end of August. Match Group will stop offering background checks on its dating apps when Garbo withdraws. Garbo's CEO, Kathryn Kosmides, said that the decision was due to a lack of support and harassment from bad actors on online dating platforms. Meanwhile, Garbo will focus on developing tools to protect users from digital gender-based violence and other interpersonal harms.
