Apple has introduced a new Standby mode on iOS 17 that turns the iPhone into a smart display. Users can view information like the time, weather, and control smart home devices without unlocking the phone. Standby can be enabled in the Settings menu and customized by turning off notifications and night mode. To activate Standby, the iPhone needs to be placed horizontally on a MagSafe charging stand or connected to a charging cable. Users can choose from three views - widget, photo, or clock - and customize them accordingly.
