IAMAI, BIF and ITI oppose Airtel, Reliance Jio and Vodafone-Idea's demand to regulate OTT

Industry bodies have submitted counter comments to the Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) regarding the regulation of Over-The-Top (OTT) communication services. The Information Technology Industry Council (ITI) argued that defining OTT services for regulatory purposes is difficult, as they cannot be separated into specific categories. The Broadband India Forum (BIF) stated that charging network usage fees from OTTs would violate net neutrality principles. The Alliance of Digital India Foundation (ADIF) warned that revenue-sharing arrangements between telecom service providers and OTT applications could impede the growth of digital enterprises. The Internet and Mobile Association of India (IAMAI) stated that existing regulatory frameworks are already in place for digital service providers.
