ISRO, the Indian space agency, has announced plans to build its own space station by 2035. The upcoming Gaganyaan mission will be the country's first attempt to send astronauts into space. ISRO has presented a plan to achieve its first crewed launch during a meeting led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi. The agency also aims to conduct a demonstration flight of its Crew Escape System Test Vehicle on October 21. In addition to the moon, India is interested in pursuing interplanetary missions, including a Venus orbiter and a Mars lander.
