IT ministry blocked over 36,000 URLs on social media: This platform tops the list

The Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY) shared data in Parliament revealing that between 2018 and October 2023, 36,838 URLs were blocked by social media platforms in response to lawful directions issued by the government. IT minister Rajeev Chandrasekhar stated that these directions were issued under section 69A of the IT Act, 2000 to safeguard the interests of sovereignty, integrity, defense, security, friendly relations, public order, and to prevent cognizable offenses.
